Contract: PermanentUren: Salaris:

Job description

What if you could shape how BAM manages risk, control and predictability across the entire Group?

At Royal BAM Group, improving today’s performance while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges is at the core of our strategy. As Risk & Control Manager, you play a key role in strengthening BAM’s Enterprise Risk Management and Control Frameworks and ensuring they remain robust, aligned and effective.

In this role, you translate strategy into structure: you bring clarity to risk exposure, strengthen control effectiveness and support better decision-making across the organisation. You work closely with divisional teams and key stakeholders, ensuring strong coordination, structured reporting of findings towards the boards, and safeguarding consistency across the organisation to drive collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement.

What will you do

As Risk & Control Manager, you play an important role in leading and coordinating the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of BAM’s Enterprise Risk Management and internal control frameworks. Your role in a nutshell:

  • Collaborate with divisions to further develop and embed the BAM Enterprise Risk Management Framework and its governance. Evaluate risk exposure against BAM’s agreed risk appetite and provide insights to senior leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Risk & Control Committee, supporting discussions on project and business risks.
  • Consolidate internal control self-assessments into clear Group-level reporting for the Executive Committee and the Audit Committee. Assess control effectiveness, identify gaps and drive improvements.
  • Support Executive Board, Executive Committee and Audit Committee in the annual “in control” statement.
  • Lead the drafting and delivery of risk disclosures/ paragraphs in the Annual Report. Drive harmonisation, digitalisation and continuous improvement of frameworks and processes.
  • Support the business, in collaboration with divisions, in maturing risk management capabilities. Through your work, BAM strengthens its ability to manage risk proactively and operate with greater predictability.
Key activities
  • Translate Group strategy and policies into practical frameworks, procedures and control assessments
  • Monitor the execution of mitigation actions across divisions, working closely with divisional teams to ensure progress and impact
  • Advise senior leadership on the quality of the control environment
  • Identify and assess severe but plausible risk scenarios
  • Facilitate risk sessions together with divisional stakeholders to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach
  • Support management with clear guidance on risk and control practices
  • Prepare high-quality reporting and presentations for senior stakeholders and boards (BE AC)
  • Work closely with Internal Audit, Finance and Legal to ensure alignment and effective collaboration
  • Align with divisional counterparts (NL, UK & Ireland, Belgium) to safeguard consistency and transparency in reporting
  • Follow up on internal and external audit actions in close coordination with responsible teams
  • Contribute to further professionalisation and data-driven risk management, leveraging expertise and capacity across divisions
Your environment

You will be based in Bunnik and report directly to the Executive Group Control Director. You operate across the Group and work closely with Risk & Control teams in the divisions and operating companies.

This is a high-exposure role with regular interaction with the Executive Board, Executive Committee and Audit Committee, while working closely with Risk & Control counterparts in the divisions to drive consistent insights on risk and control. You work in a dynamic, project-driven environment where collaboration across business units, geographies and disciplines really makes the difference. In this role, you combine strategic influence with hands-on impact, shaping frameworks, reporting and governance. It is a highly visible position where you can make a tangible difference across BAM.

What we offer

At Royal BAM Group, you will take on a highly visible role at the heart of the organisation, working closely with our divisions and Belgium to strengthen the way risk management and internal control are embedded across the Group. Your work will directly contribute to better decision-making, stronger performance, and long-term resilience.

What you can expect:

  • A senior role with direct exposure to executive management and key decision-makers
  • The opportunity to shape and further develop Group-wide risk and control frameworks, governance, and assurance practices
  • A broad international stakeholder landscape across business units and functions
  • A high-impact position where you can influence how Royal BAM Group manages risk and drives performance
  • An ambitious and collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement
  • Excellent opportunities for professional and personal development
  • A competitive remuneration package, including a gross annual salary between €9,750 and €12,000 per month, depending on experience and expertise
  • 8% holiday allowance
  • 43 annual leave days, of which 13 days are paid out
  • A variable bonus opportunity of up to 24% of annual salary
  • An electric lease car or a mobility allowance, depending on your preference and situation
Who we are looking for

We are looking for a senior professional who combines risk and control expertise with strong judgement and influencing skills. You bring:

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent; a post-master qualification (RA, CPA, RO) is preferred
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in risk management, internal control, governance or assurance, within corporate environments, preferably in project-driven organisations.Strong knowledge of internal controls, frameworks and governance
  • Experience in a complex, preferably project-oriented organisation
  • The ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, decision-oriented reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across divisions and stakeholders, balancing differing priorities and perspectives
  • Full professional proficiency in English
