Job description

Job description

Candidate will join the section Network Architectures and Services (NAS). The role focuses on network resilience – the ability of a network to withstand, adapt to and recover from external disruptions. This includes topological disruptions (e.g., failures or attacks on nodes or links) as well as service perturbations such as reduced bandwidth, increased delay in telecom networks or voltage/current fluctuations in power grids.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the theory of Network Science to real-world infrastructural networks (telecommunication, power grid, transportation).
  • Extend and apply network resilience expertise within NAS.
  • Integrate expertise from diverse domains and collaborate with Prof. Van de Veen (graph signal processing), Prof. Leus (network data science), Prof. Redig (stochastic processes on networks) and Prof. Hamdioui (computer architectures).
  • Establish new collaborations with industrial partners.
  • Acquire and manage funded research projects at the national and international level.
  • Teach courses and supervise students in relevant subjects.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics or operations research.
  • Strong background in Network Science and network resilience.
  • Ability to work across multiple scientific domains.

Conditions of employment

Position offered as an Academic Career Track (0.8–1.0 FTE). The successful candidate is expected to advance towards an Associate Professor position within a maximum of eight years. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Relocation support is available.

Application procedure

Apply no later than 2 July 2026. Submit a CV and a motivational letter. Contact Prof. Dr. Ir. P. Van Mieghem at [email protected] (cc [email protected]). Vacancy number: EWI2026-NASUD.
