Astron – Dwingeloo (7991PD)
ASTRON, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy, is a fully separate research institute of NWO, the Dutch organization for scientific research. The mission of ASTRON is to make discoveries in radio astronomy happen via the development of novel and innovative technologies, the operation of world-class radio astronomy facilities such as LOFAR and the pursuit of fundamental astronomical research.
ASTRON is currently building a new Science Data Centre (SDC), which is ASTRON's initiative to maximize the scientific impact of our world-leading instrumentation program by making data products and analysis tools available to scientists in the most effective ways. The SDC is foreseen to become the primary portal for world-wide access to ASTRON’s data products.
The construction of the SDC is organized in an extensive program, consisting of several projects already, and more to follow. This effort is the first in ASTRON to employ the Agile SAFe framework to organize the work itself and the people contributing to it. Most of the effort in the projects is for software development and to provide the necessary ICT infrastructure, both in our own Institute as well as with our European partners.
To achieve the SDC’s objectives, ASTRON wants to strengthen the Program’s team with a skilled and experienced project manager. The project manager we are looking for will collaborate and lead technical development staff within ASTRON, and will lead our contributions to a variety of high-profile international collaborations.
As a project manager you will be part of ASTRON's COMPAS — COMbined Project management And Systems engineering — group. Currently, this group consists of six systems engineers and project managers. The COMPAS group promotes the practices and culture of successful project management across the organization. You will help your COMPAS colleagues to develop the frameworks, both agile and non-agile, that we use to organize ASTRON’s projects, and engage with engineers to inspire and cultivate agile and flexible ways of working.
If you feel you could contribute to the challenges within the SDC Program and the ASTRON organization with your personality and acquired skills, competences and experience we would like to invite you to respond to this vacancy and explore this further together.
