Job description

At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

A Day in the Life

The Medtronic site located in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, is evolving into a high-performance, data-driven, and connected manufacturing environment, supporting cleanroom assembly, warehousing, and quality operations. As part of this transformation, we have combined our value chain enabling functions — Process Engineering, Maintenance & Facility Services, Operational Excellence, and Environmental Health & Safety — into a multidisciplinary support department. This team deploys Flow Acceleration-style production cells, harmonizes Tier management structures, and drives changeover minimization across assembly operations.

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer who is an engaged process improver with a track record of delivering performance improvements in manufacturing. You will work directly on the production floor, engaging supervisors, cell leads, and operators, while applying analytical, structured, and data-driven approaches to improve productivity, process robustness, and compliance.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Develop, improve, and simplify processes across the value chain, including assembly, warehousing, and quality control
  • Provide engineering support for troubleshooting, operator guidance, and continuous improvement
  • Facilitate daily Tier management huddles and lead problem-solving initiatives
  • Optimize productivity, capacity, process robustness, safety, and compliance using DMAIC, Flow Acceleration, SMED, and other Operational Excellence methodologies
  • Develop Standard Work, work instructions, and operator training tools to improve procedural adherence and operational performance
  • Plan, execute, and report on equipment qualification and process validation (Design of Experiments, FMEA, Statistical Process Control)
  • Lead engineering projects, ensuring solid planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting
  • Support process automation, digitization, and data-driven performance visualization, aligning with other enabling functions such as QA, Maintenance, EHS, and Operational Excellence
  • Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in multidisciplinary manufacturing environments, with proven success as a process or manufacturing engineer
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing technologies, industrial engineering, assembly processes, and process automation
  • Demonstrable track record in performance improvement, productivity, and process robustness
  • Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies such as DMAIC, Value Stream Analysis, SMED, Material Flow, Tier Management, 5S, Flow Acceleration
  • Experience with Equipment Qualification, Process Validation, and statistical tools
  • Data-driven mindset, skilled in developing and visualizing performance management structures
  • Strong project leadership skills, delivering on time and exceeding expectations
  • Analytical, structured, and results-oriented, with the ability to work on the shop floor and engage with all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Fluency in English; Dutch proficiency preferred
  • Solid experience with Office 365 and business intelligence/reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Affinity for regulated, system-structured industries (medical devices, pharma, food, automotive)
  • Willingness to travel internationally (
